Sarah & Ryan’s Downtown Kitchener Wedding: Colorful Urban Photos
Sarah & Ryan’s celebration at The Walper Hotel was full of vibrant energy and pure fun. It perfectly matched the spirit of this dynamic couple and their community of loved ones. Even though they now live in Chicago, they chose downtown Kitchener as their wedding location, and it couldn’t have been a better fit.
The Walper made things easy. Its location, beautiful spaces, and cozy hotel rooms meant guests didn’t have to go far for anything. The venue itself is known for its design, incredible food, and history. It lived up to all of it.
The day began with a quiet first look in the Oak Room. They exchanged letters and took a moment together before the day got going. Then we wandered through the hotel and the nearby streets for portraits. Downtown Kitchener wedding photos offer so much variety. We had classic interiors at The Walper and bold, urban murals in places like Goudie’s Lane and Halls Lane.
Back at the venue, Sarah & Ryan kept their ceremony short and sweet. Then the real party started. The Crystal Ballroom filled with energy as they hit the dancefloor with their wedding party. I loved their reception setup. Instead of putting the head table against the wall, they placed it in the center and surrounded it with guests. It made everything feel more connected.
The night continued with heartfelt speeches, great food, and one of the quirkiest highlights of the day: a sports trophy that doubled as a kind of communal chalice. It made its way around the room and became a running joke, which added a really fun personal touch to the night. Guests spread both joy and cooties with the rest of the crowd
One of my favorite things they did was gather everyone on the dancefloor for a group photo. It instantly turned into a packed floor and kept the energy high through the rest of the reception.
Whatever magic was in that trophy, combined with Sarah & Ryan’s personalities, their amazing guests, live music, and an open bar, made this a wedding to remember. It was such a joy to photograph and I’m so grateful to have been a part of it.
